Similarly to raccoons, opossums can become a big issue when they invade your property. These creatures are attracted to any building that brings them closer to food, and, as omnivores, finding food sources is not a difficult task. When they make their way onto your property, they can survive on fruit trees, by digging through your garbage cans or digging up bugs in the yard, or even by stealing your pet’s food. At Ehrlich Pest Control, formerly Connor’s, we know how frustrating it can be to deal with these pesky animals, which is why we’re proud to provide opossum trapping and removal services.

It’s important to remember the following facts about opossums:
- When an opossum is threatened, its nervous system basically shuts down—otherwise known as “playing dead”.
- The opossum will also emit a very foul smelling fluid, similar to a skunk’s spray, in order to defend itself.
- Opossums also carry fleas, ticks and mites that could be hazardous to your health, and the health of any pets on your property.
- Just as with raccoons, they can cause structural damage to your property as they attempt to find a place to nest.
