West Nile Expected to be on the Rise
Tuesday, 13th July 2010
According to the Deseret News, forecasters are expecting an unusually hot summer. The heat wave will do more than make people uncomfortable during the summer months. The warm summer will bring about more mosquitoes. Because the number of mosquitoes will be higher than normal, experts expect the number of West Nile cases to be higher as well.
The warm weather is not the only thing that attracts mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus.Water also plays a big role in the surge of mosquitoes.People can expect to see more mosquitoes after a heavy rain. In addition, those who have standing water in their yards are more likely to have mosquitoes that those who have dry yards.
It is important that people protect themselves from mosquitoes this season. They should spray themselves with DEET and remove all standing water. Preventative pest control is essential when dealing with mosquitoes.
