First, the Daily News Tribune explained bed bugs’ feeding habits. They typically seek out food once every ten days. However, they can wait a month between meals, so they will be waiting at the house for the family to return from vacation.

They sense carbon dioxide and warmth, and that’s how they find people. Once they find people, they are able to feast. They will eat for about five to ten minutes, and then they go back into hiding.

If you have bed bugs in your home, contact a pest control professional. Pesticides are rarely effective when dealing with bed bugs, so a professional will be needed to eliminate the infestation.
