Traveling and Bedbugs
Thursday, 29th April 2010
As the weather warms up, people start traveling more. Travelers need to think about bed bugs when they stay in hotels.
According to the Jackson Examiner, bed bugs frequent high traffic areas such as hotels. When travelers visit a hotel, they run the risk of taking the bed bugs home with them.
Bed bugs usually go home with people in one of two ways. In many cases, they crawl into travelers’ suitcases. In other cases, they get on people’s pajamas when they are sleeping at night. Then, when people pack their pajamas up to go home, the bed bugs go home with them.
Once the bed bugs are in the home, they begin feeding on the home’s occupants. They come out at night when people are sleeping and eat a meal. When they are finished, they hide again until the next night.
People need to use caution when traveling in order to avoid a bed bug infestation. Those who end up with an infestation need to contact a pest control professional.
