Termite Swarmers Inside the Home
Tuesday, 13th April 2010
While most termites prefer to stay out of sight and munch on wood, homeowners will occasionally spot swarmers inside their homes. Swarmers are a part of the termite’s colony and are in charge of reproduction. Kansas State University outlines the measures homeowners should take if they find swarmers inside their homes.
First, the homeowner needs to vacuum up the termites. All termites must be vacuumed in order to remove them from the home.
Then, the vacuum bag should be taken to an outdoor trashcan. The trashcan should be located away from the home, and the homeowner must close the lid to the trashcan after putting the termites inside.
Lastly, the home should be thoroughly inspected. The presence of swarmers often means other types of termites are present. Thus, the homeowner should call a pest control company in order to inspect for termites and eliminate any that are on the premises.
Homeowners must take action if they spot termites. Termites create a great deal of damage, and thus must be eliminated swiftly. Keywords: Termite Swarmers Inside the Home
