Termite Proof Your Home
Wednesday, 12th May 2010
It’s termite season again, which means people have to be careful or they could end up with thousands of dollars of termite damage. According to the Advocate-Messenger, people can lessen the likelihood of ending up with termite damage by following a few simple steps.
First, people need to understand that termites are attracted to moisture. Thus, they must eliminate all moisture from the home and surrounding areas. Gutters should be functioning properly and water should be removed.
In addition, people must make sure there is not any structural wood-soil contact. This type of contact provides termites with food and moisture, along with a way to enter the home. Because of that, homeowners should measure the distance between the structural wood and the ground. There should be at least six inches between the two. If there is not, they need to have work done so they can prevent a termite infestation.
The easiest form of pest control is prevention. Homeowners should follow these steps in order to prevent termites from entering their homes.
