Spider Bites in Virginia

Spider bites are common in Virginia, and every year, homeowners worry that these spiders may put them at serious danger, often turning to spider control options in order to reduce the risk of serious injury. Yet when it comes to Virginia spiders, there is some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that very few of the poisonous spiders in Virginia are very aggressive. Only the wolf spider is believed to be a bit more liberal with its biting, and its bites, while painful, are not very dangerous to humans without an allergy. While spider control is useful, there are very few people that need to worry about aggressive spiders.

Unfortunately, there are two common spiders that can be dangerous to humans. These spiders are:

• Brown Recluse
• Black Widow

Neither of these spiders are very aggressive, and will only attach if provoked. Each of these spiders would rather leave you alone than bite. But if they sense you are putting them or their young in danger, they can lash out and leave bites that may lead to serious injury or death.

Those that are worried about common spider bites can rest easy, knowing that the only very dangerous spiders are unlikely to bite without provocation.
