Rat Report: The Five Rattiest Cities in the Country
Friday, 14th October 2011
As winter approaches, rats are a problem everywhere in the country. However, in some parts of the country, they are especially invasive. The d-CON Rodent Risk Report reveals the five rattiest cities in the country, as well as the specific neighborhoods which residents believe to be the worst areas in the city.
The five cities reported to be the rattiest by the d-CON report are as follows:
- Houston, Texas – Residents believe that the top three worst locations for rats within Houston are The Heights, Uptown/Galleria, and West University Place.
- Detroit, Mich. – Residents here see New Center, Downtown, and the Crass Corridor as the rattiest places in Detroit.
- Nashville, Tenn. – Melrose, East Nashville, and Downtown are believed by Nashville residents to be particularly rat-infested.
- Baltimore, Md. – If you are afraid of rats, avoid the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, and Downtown areas of Baltimore, according to Baltimore residents.
- Charlotte, N.C. – The neighborhoods of University City and North Davidson (“NoDa”), as well as the Uptown area, are the rattiest places in Charlotte, according to the residents surveyed.
The specific cities were determined based on the 2009 results of the Rodent Risk Report, and rising foreclosure rates are believed to have contributed to the increased infestation in the five cities.
