Protecting Your Home From Mosquitoes

Tuesday, 25th May 2010

Mosquito season has arrived, which means people need to start securing their yards before these dangerous pests overtake their property.  According to WBTV, there are steps people can take to keep mosquitoes out of their yards.

WBTV states that mosquitoes thrive in standing water. Thus, people need to eliminate or treat the water in their yards.  They should go around and get rid of all the standing water they can, and then purchase tablets they can use in ponds and pools.  The tablets will fight off mosquito larvae, and thus, make the water much safer.

In addition, WBTV states people should contact their local health department if they think they live near a place that is infested with mosquitoes.  Foreclosed homes with pools can be breeding grounds for these pests, and it is best if people stay contact the authorities before they end up with West Nile Virus or one of the other illnesses that comes from mosquitoes.

Prevention is a powerful form of pest control, and homeowners are cautioned to protect their homes from the mosquitoes.  Since mosquitoes are so dangerous, people need to be on the offensive this season.
