Protect Yourself Against Mosquito Borne Illnesses

Thursday, 24th June 2010

Most people don’t think twice when they are bitten by mosquitoes. After all, the little pests are a part of life. While they may be a part of life, they are still incredibly dangerous, as they spread a variety of illnesses.

According to the St. Johns County Health Department, people can lower their risk of contracting mosquito borne illnesses by following a few simple steps. First, people should stay inside at dusk and dawn. These are the times mosquitoes are most active. If people must be out during these times, they should wear DEET.

They should also wear clothing that covers their body. That way, they will not get bites on exposed skin.
Lastly, people need to eliminate mosquito-breeding sites. Mosquitoes breed in standing water, so homeowners should go around their yards and clean up any water.

These pest control tips can help you avoid getting a mosquito borne disease. Follow them so you can stay healthy this spring and summer.
