Protect Infants From Mosquito Borne Illnesses

Wednesday, 11th August 2010

The warm, wet weather has caused mosquitoes to come out in large numbers. Some of the mosquitoes carry illnesses, such as West Nile Virus and Dengue Fever. Because of that, it is important for parents to protect their kids from these pests. Parents can use DEET for older kids, but they need to take other steps to protect infants from mosquitoes.

According to the Pensacola News Journal, parents have two options for protecting infants from mosquitoes. First, they can keep infants inside at dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active. This is not always possible, though. Thus, many parents rely on the second option, which is mosquito netting. They can place mosquito netting around the infant’s carrier. The netting will keep mosquitoes away from the infant. These pest control measures protect infants during mosquito season. It is important that parents follow these tips so they can prevent their children from getting a mosquito borne illness.
