Preventing Cockroaches

Monday, 3rd May 2010

Cockroaches are filthy insects that cause a variety of problems, including asthma. According to the Health News Digest, there are several things people can do to keep cockroaches from staying in their homes.

People should store food in airtight containers. Cockroaches look for food upon entering a home. If they cannot get into your food containers, they will leave your home and go elsewhere.

Garbage is another source of food for cockroaches, which is why all garbage must be put away and sealed. Use garbage cans with lids and take the garbage out in a timely fashion.

Cleanliness is also important. Clean up any spills or crumbs, wash your dishes and keep your home free of clutter.

Lastly, examine your home for leaks. If you find any, fix them immediately.

If you follow these steps, you will be less likely to have a cockroach problem. If, however, cockroaches still enter your home, contract a pest control professional immediately.
