Summer means better weather, which means fewer dinners inside of the home and far more outdoor barbecues with the family. But as the National Pest Management Association reminds us, more outdoor time means more time spent with pests and insects that can disrupt your meal, irritate your family, and possibly lead to bites and stings.

They provide several different pest control ideas for those that are hoping to avoid these insects and enjoy the family meal. Some of these ideas include:

• Wear Fewer Perfumes – Unusual smells tend to attraction insects, especially bees and wasps. Using unscented shampoos and deodorants should reduce the attraction these bugs have to your family.
• Use Clear Cups – Insects are attracted to foods and drinks as well, and when they are investigating the smells they may crawl into the tiny pop can holes or water bottles. Clear cusp can help make sure that you see the insects before putting yourself in an embarrassing or painful situation.
• Consider Pest Control – If you remove nests and combat pest control before you have your barbecues, you’ll be able to reduce the number of insects that are coming in and invading your meals.
