Mosquitos: Annoying As Always

Thursday, 1st September 2011

Mosquitos are irritating little insects that cause itchy bumps and spread viruses. They are nature’s little vampires, ruining camping trips everywhere with their pesky bites and annoying little suckers. The CDC reports over a thousand different people have suffered from disease like West Nile Virus that are spread exclusively by mosquitoes, and that number doesn’t include the millions upon millions that whose quality of life is impacted by these pests.

The National Pest Management Association has released a list of some of the things you can do to prevent mosquito attacks. These include:

  • Remove standing water from around your home.
  • Use insect repellent on open skin.
  • Limit outdoor activities between dawn and dusk.
  • Wear long sleeves and fabric whenever possible.
  • Cover all possible entrances to your home.
  • Do not scratch insect bites.

While there is no surefire way to prevent all mosquito bites, there are things you can do to reduce the chance that they interfere with your summer plans. With the tips described above and the services available through Connor’s Pest, you will increase your chances of enjoying a bite free year, and greatly reduce the likelihood of catching any mosquito based blood borne diseases.
