Mosquito Season is Here

Friday, 7th May 2010

The warm and wet spring weather is perfect for mosquitoes. According to the National Pest Management Association, there are several things homeowners can do to protect themselves from these pests.

First, people must get rid of stagnant water. Water attracts mosquitoes, so get rid of containers that have standing water. That does not mean you have to get rid of ponds or birdbaths. You can keep them, but add a drip system. The drip system will keep the water fresh, and thus, make it less appetizing for mosquitoes.

People also need to have screens on their windows and doors. In addition, they should check the screens to make sure there are not any holes in them. A hole in a screen creates a perfect entry point for mosquitoes.

By following these simple guidelines, you will decrease your chances of having mosquitoes. Remember, prevention is an important element of pest control. Stay active with prevention methods and have an enjoyable, mosquito free, spring.
