Minimizing Pest Activity
Thursday, 8th April 2010
The best pest control method is prevention. WRLB News 3 reports there are several things homeowners can do in order to keep pests away from their homes.
First, people can change their outdoor lighting. Certain types of lighting attract pests. However, certain yellow lights do not attract pests. By switching lighting, people can keep pests away from their homes.
Homeowners must also be mindful of moisture. Pests are attracted to moisture, so homeowners must keep standing water from accumulating inside and outside the home. They should check the inside and outside of their homes on a regular basis and remove any standing water.
Lastly, all food must be sealed at all times. Pet food and human food should be put in containers that cannot be penetrated by pests. If pests do not have anything to eat, they are less likely to stay in a home.
It is important for homeowners to follow these preventative measures. Those who follow these measures will have fewer pest problems.
