Late Summer Weather Brings Summer Stings
Wednesday, 31st August 2011
The late summer and early fall weather brings more than simply cooler temperatures and sunshine – it also brings out all of the biting and stinging insects. Mosquitoes, bees, deer ticks, horse flies and other bugs all breed and feed across the country, leading to stings and bites that can not only cause pain, but also cause illness.
A recent article in the Seattle times reminds readers about some of the potential consequences of putting yourself at risk to these bites and stings. One man in Yakima, Washington died of hantavirus, while another had his life drastically altered because of West Nile. Other insects to watch out for include:
- Bees
- Hornets/Wasps
- Deer and Horse Flies
- Hard Ticks and Soft Ticks
- Mosquitos
Rodents and other pests can also be a problem, carrying a variety of diseases from home to home and spreading disease through their droppings, saliva, bites and urine. You can read the Seattle Times article to find out more about some of these diseases and what you can do if you’re concerned about being the victim of a sting or bite. You should also contact Connor’s Pest Protection to help remove, eradicate, and clean up after any and all insects and rodents that may enter your home every year.
