Keeping Skunks Out of a Crawl Space
Thursday, 1st April 2010
Crawl spaces attract lots of wildlife. According to the Mail Tribune, skunks are common crawl space squatters. This is especially dangerous in spring, as spring is a birthing season for skunks. Thus, homeowners need to protect their crawl spaces before they end up with a family of skunks.
The best method of protection is prevention. Homeowners who successfully keep skunks and other wildlife out of their crawl spaces will not have to worry about the birthing season. Unfortunately, it is already too late for some homeowners. Those who already have skunks or other wildlife in their crawl spaces will have to take other measures in order to eliminate them.
One option is to cover up all of the entrances to the crawl space but one. Then, homeowners can put flour down in front of that space. After they put down the flour, they can play loud music in order to annoy the skunks. The skunks may flee. If they do, the homeowner will see the flour tracks.
While this may work for some, it is not foolproof. Those who want to make sure they get rid of the skunks under their crawl space are encouraged to contact a pest control professional.
A professional will be able to eliminate the skunks. Then, homeowners can use proactive measures to ensure they do not end up with more wildlife in crawl spaces.
