Household Pests Come Out for the Holidays

Monday, 4th January 2010

The National Pest Management Association has issued a warning to families as they decorate for the holidays. According to the Association, many household pests, including rodents, hide in boxes where Christmas decorations are stored, and then find new homes once the decorations are unpacked.

Homes are a virtual playground for pests. The Herald Net notes rodents and pests like bathrooms, kitchens and cabinets, as well as other areas. The online newspaper goes on to warn people to take action if they hear noises coming from their crawlspaces or other areas of the home.

Pest control is important during the Christmas season, as items are moved and pests leave their normal hiding places when they enter into the rest of the home.

In addition to control, homeowners should seal their homes and take precautions during the cold winter months, as that is when pests are most likely to come indoors. Once pests are eliminated and the home is sealed, homeowners will be protected from future infestations.
