Habits of Cockroaches
Thursday, 6th May 2010
Cockroaches are a serious problem for many homeowners. Not only are they filthy creatures, but they can cause asthma in children and adults. Because of that, it is important for people to understand the habits of cockroaches.
According to the University of Rhode Island’s Landscaping and Horticulture Program, cockroaches are drawn to warm and moist places. Once they arrive at their destinations, they hide during the daylight hours.
A home is full of hiding places for cockroaches. Some popular hiding places are behind pictures, inside cabinets and under refrigerators. They search for places that are out of sight and stay there until nighttime. Then, they come out to look for food and water.
Occasionally, they come out during the day as well, which indicates a serious cockroach problem. If they are showing themselves during the day, there is typically a large infestation.
Since these pests can lead to serious health issues, it is important to take immediate action upon seeing a cockroach. Pest control techniques should be used to eliminate the roaches.
