Experts Weigh in on Bed Bug Removal
Tuesday, 19th January 2010
As bed bugs become a growing concern, homeowners and businesses are considering viable removal options.According to experts, bed bug removal options are limited. Jerome Goddard, a Mississippi State University entomologist and coauthor of a report on bed bugs published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, states normal traps do not work with bed bugs. Bed bugs feed off human blood, so they are not enticed by traps. They have also grown immune to many pesticides on the market today, making it more difficult for homeowners to control the problem.
Detailed knowledge of the biology and hiding locations of bed bugs is required to remove them, according to career bed bug expert Dr. Harold Harlan.
According to Harlan, an inspection of the infested area is needed. After the inspection, a strategy must be put in place to remove the bed bugs. Harlan states most nonprofessionals would not know how to successfully strategize and remove the bed bugs.
Both experts agree the most effective way to eliminate bed bugs is with a professional service. Professionals know how to locate the bed bugs and how to rid homes and businesses of the pests.
