Eliminate Rodents from Your Yard

Friday, 5th February 2010

The cold winter months have led to an increase in rodent infestations. Bradley J. Fikes of the North County Times recently reported on the issue, and offered suggestions for homeowners. The suggestions include action homeowners can take outside of their homes.

In his report, Fikes notes it is important for homeowners to trim trees so branches do not touch the home. Rodents live in trees, and if the tree branches touch the house, they are more likely to enter.

In addition, homeowners should clear space around the home. If plants, debris and objects surround the home, rodents will have ample hiding places. Clearing out the items will cut down on the hiding places, and thus make it more difficult for rodents to gain access to the home.

If an infestation still occurs, homeowners should take action immediately. Rodents pose a health threat, and thus pest control measures must be used in order to eliminate the rodents from the home and surrounding area.
