Don’t Spread Bed Bugs

Saturday, 17th July 2010

When people find out they have bed bugs, they often panic. They throw out their furniture in the hopes of eliminating the bed bugs. According to the EPA, that is not a good decision. When someone throws out bed bug infested furniture, he or she can end up giving the bed bugs to someone else.

Bed bugs are hitchhikers, so they will stow away on furniture once it is thrown out. Thus, they will be ready for the next owner to pick up the piece of furniture. Then, they will go home with them.

The EPA recommends people destroy their furniture if they are going to get rid of it. That way, no one will pick the furniture up, so the bed bugs will not be able to travel to a new home.

If you want to save your furniture, contact a pest control professional. They can use methods that will allow you to keep your furniture while still eliminating the bed bugs.
