Don’t Bring Bed Bugs Into Your Home

Thursday, 15th April 2010

Bed bugs tend to hitchhike from one location to the next. Because of that, people are at risk of picking up bed bugs when they travel. Good Morning America recently provided several tips for people to follow when on the road.

First, people need to examine their hotel rooms. While bed bugs are difficult to spot, people can look for skin, shells and waste materials. They should examine the headboard and all around the bed. If they spot bed bugs, they should check into a different hotel.

Even if bed bugs are not spotted, people still need to be cautious. They should use the luggage rack in the hotel. If they put their luggage on the bed, they could end up with bed bugs in their suitcases.

Lastly, people need to be careful once they arrive home. They should wash their clothing immediately. The laundry cycle will kill the bed bugs, and thus protect the home.

Bed bug infestations are on the rise, so it is important for people to take precautions.  However, if people still have a bed bug problem, they can contact a pest control professional for help.
