Dogs Sniff Out Termites

Monday, 26th April 2010

According to the News Observer, termite sniffing dogs are the latest trend in pest control. Just as dogs are more equipped at detecting bed bugs than humans are, they can also find termites that people cannot see.

In the past, pest control companies relied solely on visual inspections. While visual inspections will likely lead to the discovery of some termites, it is difficult to find the source of the infestation with human eyes. Termites can go undetected, and thus continue to damage the home. Moreover, if the source of the infestation is not discovered, termites will continue to enter the house.

That is where these dogs come in. They look for termites and can find the source of the infestation. Thus, the area can be properly treated and the termites can be completely removed.

Dogs have changed the face of pest control. Human eyes are no longer enough. Dogs have improved the pest control industry by lending their noses to the detection process.
