Cockroaches are adept at hiding, which means people don’t always know it when they have an infestation. According to the University of California, people can check for cockroaches by using traps. Once they find out if they have an infestation, they can take the proper steps to eliminate the pests.

Traps should be placed in the corners of rooms. In addition, homeowners should place traps behind refrigerators, stoves and other appliances.

If they find cockroaches in any of the traps, they should dispose of them and then look for the entry point the pests are using. If the cockroaches are found behind the stove, they should look for an entry point behind the stove. If the pests are found in a corner, homeowners should check for an entry point in the corner.

Once the entry point is discovered, the homeowner should seal it. Then, they should contact a pest control professional so the rest of the pests are eliminated swiftly.
