Do a Termite Check

Monday, 28th June 2010

Every year, termites cause billions of dollars in damage. Homeowners need to inspect their homes on a regular basis to make sure they are not the next victims of these pests. DIY Life offers several tips for people to follow when they inspect for termites.

First people should walk around their home and look for signs of softening wood. If your wood does not seem sturdy, it could be because termites have started damaging it.

Mud tubes are another sign that termites are in the area. You will find the tubes in places where the wood and soil meet. If you see any of these tubes, you likely have termites and need to take immediate action.

The site says termite wings are also a sign of termite infestations. The presence of wings could mean the termites have shed their wings and are colonizing in your home.

If you see signs of termites in your home, you need to take immediate action. Do not take matters into your own hands. Contact a pest control professional immediately.
