Bed Bug Prevention Myths
Thursday, 15th July 2010
A war is waging in suburbs across America. Humans are on one side of the battlefield. The humans want to get a little sleep at night without ending up with red, itchy welts. Bed bugs are on the other side of the battlefield. They just want a little midnight snack. Unfortunately, their meal of choice is blood, and humans are their favorite hosts. Because of this war between people and bed bugs, humans are constantly trying to find ways to protect themselves from bed bug bites when they sleep. According to the University of Kentucky, many of the methods humans try simply do not work.
For instance, people often apply insect repellent before they go to bed. They think this will keep bed bugs away. Insect repellents are ineffective, though.
Some people sleep with the lights on. They think bed bugs will only come out if it is dark. What they find out, though, is bed bugs will still come out for a meal, even if the lights are on.
The only way to protect yourself from bed bugs is to have a licensed pest control professional come to your home and eliminate the pests. Then, you will be able to sleep in peace once again.
