Protection from Bed Bugs during Travel Keeps Bed Bugs out of Home
From 1940 to about 1995, it seemed as though these parasitic pests were largely extinct on within the country. So how did we get from hardly any bed bugs to the rather common infestations today? Bed bugs are not capable of flight, so how did this resurgence occur?
The answer is that humans are capable of flight today, and international travel has become relatively common. Bed bug travel protection, therefore, is extremely important to preventing an infestation. The biggest hot spots for these bed bugs are in hotel and motel rooms, particularly those which service a wide variety of clients. One must also be aware when traveling domestically due to the recent resurgence. Bed bug travel protection is more important than ever, as it is rather common to find these pests in hotels.
There are two locations specifically within hotel rooms which one should check to protect themselves from bed bugs during travel. The first place to check is, of course, the bed. Dark spots on sheets or mattresses are evidence of a bed bug infestation. The other place is cracks in the walls, especially near the bed. Checking these two locations, and keeping your luggage away from the bed, will greatly reduce the chance of bringing bed bugs into your home.
