Ants Versus Termites

Thursday, 4th March 2010

Ants and termites are often mistaken for one another. Many homeowners do not know which of these pests they are infested with, so they don’t know what type of treatment to pursue. According to the Louisburg Herald, there are many differences between these pests.

First, people can examine the waist of the pest. Termites have a thick waist. Ants, on the other hand, have a thin waist. This is one of the easiest ways to tell the difference between ants and termites.

These pests also have different antennas. Termites have straight antennas, while ants have elbowed antennas.

Lastly, people can examine the wings of the pests. Termites have two sets of wings that are of equal length. Ants also have two sets of wings, but their wings are of unequal lengths.

It is important to identify ants and termites properly. Then, the correct pest control techniques can be used and the invaders will be eliminated.
