Ant Prevention

Tuesday, 11th May 2010

Once ants enter a home, they can create a variety of problems. According to the Lawrence Journal World and News, there are several things people can do to prevent ants from entering homes.

First, people need to be mindful of the water around their homes. Gutters and downspouts should direct water away from the home’s foundation. If they direct water toward the foundation, they need to be adjusted.

People also need to caulk and weather-strip their homes, as they will make it more difficult for ants to enter. In addition, they should take the trash out frequently, wash dishes immediately and wipe off all countertops. By keeping the home clean and free of garbage, people will prevent ants from feeding if they do enter the home.

By doing these simple things, people are less likely to end up with an ant infestation. Ants can be a serious nuisance, and thus, homeowners should work to keep them out of their houses.
