Danger of Do It Yourself Pest ControlThis year, National Poison Prevention Week is March 15-20.This is a good time for homeowners to evaluate their pest control methods.

Many homeowners choose to apply pesticides on their own.According to EVLiving.com, pesticides lead to a large number of accidental poisonings.  Often, homeowners think they are protected from the pesticides, when they are actually vulnerable. Pesticides can penetrate leather shoes and gloves and poison people. Inhalation can also lead to poisoning.

Those who choose to use pesticides without the help of a professional must make sure they are properly protected.    If they get pesticides on their skin, they need to rinse immediately.  If clothing is exposed to the pesticides, it should be removed prior to washing the chemicals off the skin.Homeowners are encouraged to contact pest control professionals if they have a pest problem.Professionals are trained in administering pesticides.  Through their training, they are able prevent accidental poisonings.
